Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents just scored big in Georgia, seizing a massive 2,380 pounds of meth. It's the DEA's third-largest meth seizure ever (the largest in Atlanta's history).
Key Facts:
- Found in a tractor-trailer bound for Clayton County, GA
- Drugs hidden in celery shipment
- Mexican national truck driver arrested
The sheer scale of the operation caught officials off guard.
"This is the largest meth seizure at DEA Atlanta," said Special Agent Robert Murphy.
Surprising Location?
Most big busts happen at borders or ports. This one? Several states inland.
Murphy noted, "This cartel was very confident in what they been doing to send this much at one time."
Agriculture as Cover
The smugglers tried to blend in with celery. But Georgia's not having it. Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper warned:
"You will be caught; you will be prosecuted, and you will go to prison."
Impact on Drug Trade
This seizure deals a major blow to cartel operations. It shows they're getting bolder, pushing deeper into the U.S. But law enforcement is stepping up its game too.
As the dust settles, one thing's clear: the war on drugs is far from over. It's just moved to new battlegrounds – like your local farmer's market.
