In this week’s episode of The FreightCaviar Podcast, we sit down with Will Jenkins, Co-Founder at MoLo Solutions, CEO & Founder at Journey, and recent investor in Shipper CRM, a FreightCaviar company. Will dives into our new partnership, shares exclusive insights on sales training courses for Shipper CRM Pro customers, and discusses the long-term vision for both companies.
Will Jenkins is a prominent figure in the logistics industry, with over a decade of experience, having co-founded MoLo Solutions, which was sold to ArcBest in 2021. Today he is the CEO at Journey, his own sales training and consulting company.
He began his logistics career at Coyote in 2014 where he first trained and later worked on carrier sales teams. In 2017, he joined Transport America, as Director of Channel Support. Along the way, he reconnected with former Coyote colleagues, Andrew Silver and Stefan Mathis. That same year, he left Transport America to join forces with them in launching MoLo.
From training to leading sales teams, Will developed his skills at MoLo, and the company grew to $1.25 billion in just five years, before it was acquired by ArcBest in 2021. He reflects on the sale and what it felt like to successfully build a company from the ground up and later sell it.
“There are just so many hard parts of building a business, but the highs, they outweigh all that stuff. That's the fun of it. So you get to the end of this journey, and you're like, ‘Man, somebody really wants to buy this.’ And then it closes, and it's official. Just an unreal experience.”
Having reached many milestones, Will decided it was time to launch his own company. November 27th marks one year since he formed Journey, a recruiting resource for the transportation industry and a community-based sales academy for professionals.
But how did the Shipper CRM-Journey partnership come about?
After a phone call in May of 2023, during which he learned about the company in detail, Will immediately recognized its potential.
“I was like, ‘I wonder if these guys need more investors because this is kind of sick.’ We got to know each other more and more. I'm like, 'These boys are onto something. The tool they've built is incredible and it’s impeccably well positioned in the market.’ All those things aligned to be able to build a really strong product.”
Becoming a part of Shipper CRM just made sense to Will.
“Now having the opportunity to be an investor and partner in a business and space that I know really well, I'm like, ‘Dude, this seems like a no brainer. If you all are open to it, I would love to be an investor in the organization.”
He shares a glimpse of what will be offered to Shipper CRM Pro customers and what they can expect to see over time.
“Currently, at the base level, you'll get 12 shipper-facing sales courses. You'll get one to two new courses we add per month. And then over time, we're going to continue to create higher level, more in-depth training. And so, future state, it's likely that people will have access to that.”
So why should you want to be a part of Shipper CRM?
“You pair all that with the right type of sales training, I think it becomes almost impossible to not want to be a part of that because it's only going to accelerate your growth.”
This is just the beginning of Will's journey with Shipper CRM. Together, they’ve become a powerhouse, and it’s clear that even greater success lies ahead.
