This contract follows the original DFTS contract awarded to Crowley in 2017, one of the largest logistics contracts under the federal government.
Crowley has been awarded a $2.3 billion, seven-year contract by the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) to continue serving the military’s transportation and logistics needs under the Defense Freight Transportation Services (DFTS) program. This contract follows the original DFTS contract awarded to Crowley in 2017, which is one of the largest logistics contracts under the federal government.
The DFTS program covers all forms of surface transportation throughout the continental U.S., Alaska, and Canada, including less-than-truckload (LTL), full truckload (FTL), expedited and time-definite transportation, rail services, cross-docking, and warehousing.
Ray Fitzgerald, Chief Operating Officer of Crowley, highlighted the company's honor and pride in serving the logistics needs of the nation’s military, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining an efficient and effective supply chain. Crowley has received multiple high-performance ratings from USTRANSCOM and praise from the Defense Logistics Agency, and has implemented technology solutions to maximize transportation efficiency and value.
"There is no greater honor than to serve the logistics needs of our nation's military service members with the trust of the U.S. Department of Defense. The lasting partnership built with USTRANSCOM is a privilege that the people at Crowley never take lightly as we ensure an efficient and effective supply chain for the military and other agencies' needs," said Ray Fitzgerald, "We are humbled and immensely proud to continue delivering this critical transportation service for America's defense safely and reliably."
In addition to its service commitments, Crowley has significantly invested in diverse small businesses, exceeding $600 million in contracting. The company has also expanded its network of carriers and suppliers by over 500%, tripling the capacity needed to handle 300,000 movements of critical equipment and supplies annually.
Take a look at Biss Transport in Duncannon, Pa., for example. They were running a one tractor-trailer operation. After meeting with the Crowley Solution team, they signed up for the DFTS program in late 2017 . Fast forward a few years, Biss went from a one-man army to seven drivers and 16 trailers. They went from averaging one full truckload a week to nearly 40, weekly.
“Crowley more than delivered. The help that they’ve given us in expanding the business has been great. The way that they’ve worked with us, they’re more than standing up to what they said they’d do as a group. There’s not enough good to say about them. It’s not just one or two people – it’s the entire team.” - Kevin Bissonnette, President of Biss Transport
Crowley plans to continue utilizing small businesses and diverse suppliers to drive investment and resiliency in communities across the country under the new DFTS II contract.
Here's to many more years of excellent service y Crowley and their commitment of supporting small businesses!
