A tragic accident unfolded in eastern Tennessee when a tractor-trailer, driven by 41-year-old Robenson Vertus of Connecticut, veered off its path along Interstate 26 and crashed into a residential property. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the semi-truck left the roadway, broke through a fence, crossed another road, hit a parked car, and finally collided with a two-story house. The impact of the crash set both the truck and the house on fire, as reported by Unicoi County Emergency Management Agency Director Jimmy Erwin.

The unfortunate incident led to the death of two occupants of the house, one at the scene and the other at the hospital, while a third person is still in the hospital. Vertus, who sustained minor injuries, was treated and then taken into custody, charged with criminally negligent homicide.
